How
do I register for a class? Call the phone number listed
How much
does the class cost? The loan Notary courses are $90.00, plus
a $10.00 material fee. The loan signing courses are $80.00, plus
a $10.00 material fee.
How soon
can I begin notarizing documents? You can begin notarizing
documents when you receive your commission (takes about 3 to 6
weeks after the exam), file a bond and oath of office with the
county recorders office and purchase your Notary supplies.
How much
money can I make as a loan signer? Loan Signing Agents make
anywhere from $45.00 to $250 and up per signing.
What are
the requirements to become a notary? You must be at least
18 years of age, be a legal resident of the State of California,
take a notary class (approved by the State), pass the state exam
and pass a background check.
How long
is the State exam? The State exam is administered at the end
of the Notary course, while the information is still fresh. The
exam is 50 minutes with 30 multiple-choice questions. Passing
is 70% or higher.
How soon
will I get the results? Exam results are available online
at notary.cps.ca.gov 7-10 business days after taking the exam.
If you have never registered for or taken the exam, you will not
have a system assigned password. If you access you notary.cps.ca.gov
before taking the exam or immediately after the exam, you can
input your personal information and choose your own password.

What percentage
do I need in order to pass the State exam? You need a score
of 70% or higher.
What
is a notary public? A notary public is a civil servant
commissioned by theState of California authorized to authenticate
signatures and administer oaths.
Why
become a notary public? You will be more valuable to
your employer. Notary public is a great source of secondary income
since they are needed in Real State, Banking, Law and other professions.
What
must I bring to the live seminar? Driver’s license
or passport, check or money order for $40.00 (no cash) payable
to the Secretary of state (for the State exam), material fee for
course materials and 2 - # 2 pencils.
Is
your class approved by the Secretary of State? Yes, we
are approved by the State. Our vendor number is 600222.
Will
I receive “proof of completion”? Yes, you
will receive it at the end of class.
Is
the exam given the same day? Yes, the exam is given at
the end of the seminar.
What
is your company's pass rate? Our passing rate is 95%.

I
am already a notary. Is this course required to renew my commission?
All persons being appointed, no matter how many commission
terms that person has held in the past, are required to take the
initial six-hour course of study (Effective July 1, 2005).
I
need to renew my commission, how early can I take the course and
exam before my renewal date? You can take the six-hour
course as early as 6 months prior to your commission expiring.
Does
it make a difference if I arrive late to the seminar? Yes,
it does! According to State requirement student must complete
6 hours of instructions. |
